Getting Over It became best me known through the original version created by Bennett Foddy, to many fan-made browser minification with the popular “cat in a pot” version. The concept is similar in each version – you must ascend an absurd, obstacle-laden mountain built from boulders, furniture, metal slopes, and even an occasional floating object.

Getting Over It - How to play

Getting Over It Controls are simple but difficult. What about jump and run buttons? Everything depends on how well you play with the hammer in your hand with the help of your mouse.

  • Move your mouse to swing the hammer
  • Hook onto surfaces to pull yourself upwards
  • Push off objects to build momentum
  • Control your speed to fall without accident

Because the physics engine responds to every move, no two climbs are the same. Patience, precision, and cool-headed thinking are the path to victory.

  • Mastering the Hammer (Tool_option= Command+T)

The hammer is your only tool — and the biggest obstacle. At the beginning it’s uncomfortable and frustrating, but after a while it feels like a part of your movement.

Useful info for beginners:

  • Begin with slow controlled swings
  • Identify several stable anchors before ascending
  • Rather than using force, use a little momentum
  • Don’t panic when you fall — mistakes are part of the learning process
  • With every mistake you learn something new about timing, angles and balance.

Controls Recap

  • Mouse Movement: Swing and position the hammer
  • Click and hold: Pull or steady yourself up
  • Push Off: Gain momentum to climb
  • Patience: Your greatest attribute
